Many small business owners invest their time and hard earned money into having amazing websites created for them. The big mistake is that sometimes they may get high in the search engines, after this the website rankings begin to drop and fall off page 1.
Why does this happen?
Well the answers pretty simple, even though nothing has really changed on their websites content wise there is a major contributing factor that they all miss! SEO (Search engine optimization) is what they are lacking. Let’s back it up… SEO is the practice of optimizing a webite’s content for certain keywords that prospectors, or people looking for certain information on the web type into Google.
If content is not optmized for keywords Google will pick words at random and rank you for those keywords and these could be anything. Long story short many businesses turn to SEO or SEM (Search Engine Marketing).
What does SEO do?
SEO is a big term and is surrounded by many factors, but it’s main goal is to get the business owner to #1 in Google for targeted keywords related to their niche. This can of course bring in hundreds possibly even thousands of prospectors and increase the revenue for the business owner.
SEO to put it simply can take a very long time as there are a large number of factors that come into it, such as on-page/off-page SEO. I would never recommend a business owner go about this themselves, the best thing to do is employ a company to do your campaigns for you, which leaves yourself to focus on your own business.
Is this cheap?
Simple answer, Yes! If you weight up the options and sink $200-$1000 per month into SEO/SEM you may think this is a lot, but what you get out of it in return would be much greater. Once you see your website catapult to page 1 you should begin to see a lot more traffic and more conversions for your business. This of course means that money you initially spent on it has already paid you back!
Where do I get it?
Many will say just Google it, but even then you are majorly stuck for choice as there are thousands upon thousands of SEO companies out there. What you need to do is weigh up the pro’s and con’s of each company and look on the price, time scale and what other “extras” they add on top, as some do offer SMM (Social Media Marketing). This can also be a huge benefit and help massively towards pulling in those well needed sales.
