In the recently published annual list of skill-sets for bagging plum job offers with different corporate organizations, SEO/SMO has dropped a few notches by disappointing the talent pool already working in this domain. The industry received a #4th position in 2015, which has toppled to #9 this year.
What made the demand drop?
Things have changed since 2015 when the demand of people working in the domain of marketing campaign management was on top. According to Catherine Fisher, the senior director of LinkedIn’s member marketing and communications, the position of marketing management has completely dropped off the list, while that of SEOs manage to cling to the 9th rank. As a reason of this drop in demand, the LinkedIn management points at the diminishing gap between the supply and demand of skilled professionals in this field of work.
Demand for Marketers/SEOs:
Examining the data of this year shows that SEO/SEM could not even make it to the top 10 of the US version of this year’s list. The demand is comparatively high in the nations like, Singapore (2nd), Netherlands, Australia, Germany (3rd), UAE (5th), Ireland and the UK. Even in China, the demand of social media marketers has dropped to make the nation feature 7th in the list, while it was at the top position back in 2013.
The domain of marketing campaign could make an appearance in a handful of countries like, Singapore (6th), Ireland, France (10th), Germany (4th), etc. In the rest of others that LinkedIn put in the group for research, the vacant positions for marketers have either shrunk or almost faded away.
