Facebook has introduced a new feature to its already well-feathered cap. With this feature, you can check out related articles to a topic you are searching for, even before you have actually hit ‘search’.
Previously, you could only find related articles to a particular topic after you have read a similar article from your News Feed. Since 2013, Facebook has been using this feature to good effect. It’s only recently that it has announced that it will offer related articles to a search on a related topic.
It is definitely good news for content marketers. Previously, they had limited opportunities of showcasing their articles to like-minded readers. It was only after they read an article with a similar topic from their News Feed that you could push your article through the related article function.
Now, readers don’t have to read or click on an article before they see related articles. A simply search will offer them the window.
This is what Facebook has to say about this new feature:
“These additional articles, which appear for topics many people are talking about on Facebook, will appear in a unit below the link. That should provide people easier access to additional perspectives and information, including articles by third-party fact-checkers.”
From the perspective of a reader or user of Facebook, you stand to gain as well. You have access to more content about a topic you are reading about. With more on your tray, you are more likely to find the content that will satisfy your query.
Moreover, previously the number of suggested articles was only 3. Now that count has gone up as well.
