Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you must be knowing how the market of voice searches have proliferated in the last couple of years.
To pick up a couple of stats, Bing says that more than a fourth of all searches conducted on its Windows 10 taskbar are voice searches. Still more, Google says that 50% of the mobile searches conducted on its portal are opting for voice searches. 50%! That’s a lot of data, and sure enough to wake up any digital marketer, even one who’s in a coma!
There was a time, a few years back, when voice searches were in a mess! I’m talking about the early 2000s, like 2003 to 2005. Then, the errors committed by voice searches were exceedingly high, almost every other word was misinterpreted.
Now, today, computers and algorithms are using machine learning technology and artificial intelligence (AI). There are virtual assistants on every phone, from Siri to Google Assistant to Cortina. This surge in technology has made it possible for voice searches to attain 95% accuracy! That’s almost as much a room for error as any human typing a search would do.
In case of foreign languages, the status is still ‘Work in Progress’. But things are getting there fast enough.
As a digital marketer, you cannot afford to allow this kind of web traffic to slip away from you, simply because you have not invested enough to tap the volume of voice search traffic. It will not be done in a day, but today is surely a great time to begin the work.
