Blogging is such an interesting and popular sphere today, that it’s not surprising it has many different myths told by one newbies to other ones all the time. Of course, it’s up to you whether to agree or disagree with them, but we would like to discuss the most common blogging myths here that would be better to forget about if you want to become a really professional blogger.
Let’s take a look at them.
Blogging Myths #1: It’s very easy to earn big money with the help of your blog.
It’s not a secret that the majority of blogs are started by their managers to earn some money. When a newbie starts a blog, he hopes to earn $100, $300, or even $1000 in a month or two. Moreover, he believes that he doesn’t have to work much to achieve that: it will be enough to post 1-2 articles a day, spending 2-3 hours for that, and you’ll earn much more than you would get working in the office.
But the reality appears to be totally different. Certainly, you can earn some money with the help of your blog, but you will have to work hard on it, maybe even harder than you would work in the office. Moreover, it can take 1-2 or maybe even 3 years to make your blog really good and attractive for your potential clients. As far as you understand, no one will want to pay you for advertisements if there are some more popular and reputable blogs that can offer the same services for much better results. The only exception may be called a blog that offers some particular services. Such blogs can bring your some tangible income faster.
Blogging Myths #2: It’s impossible to earn big money with the help of a blog.
This myth can be called a consequence of the previous one. After the first unsuccessful attempt of a newbie to earn millions with his blog, he begins to think that it’s impossible to do at all. So, he forgets about the first myth of course, but he gives a birth to the second myth as a result.
The reality is that you can earn much money with your blog, a really big money indeed, but it doesn’t mean that every blogger is good enough to do that. Only several blog owners were able to do that, and everything depended on their knowledge, experience, niche chosen, and sense of purpose.
Blogging Myths #3: Your blog can provide you with a passive income.
One more blogging myth you can meet is the following: it is enough to work on blog hard for a year, and it will bring you stable passive income even if you don’t continue working on it anymore. Well, first of all, it would be useful to remember there is no such a phenomenon as a passive income at all. You will have to support your blog from time to time at least.
Actually, a blog is like a train: if you stop giving it a fuel, it will stop. So, you should work on it all the time if you want to get some income at least. From the other side, an author’s purposes and activity play an important role here too: sometimes a blog support is minimal, sometime much time is spent for that. Anyway, if you were told about huge passive incomes from a blog, don’t believe them – it is a myth.
Blogging Myths #4: A blog’s visitors are very easy to get money from.
Please, try to remember: your blog’s visitors are not the clients of online shops. They come to find the information or kill some time reading your interesting posts first of all, so, do not hope they will pay you money at once. Though you can sell something to your blog’s visitors from time to time of course.
Blogging Myths #5: Much traffic will be enough for your blog to become successful
Certainly, traffic is very important for every blog, but your audience’s quality is very important as well. What do we mean here? The fact is that a blog with less but totally target audience may be much more successful than a blog that has many readers but they just generate unuseful traffic and don’t bring anything. In other words, 100 interested readers are much better than 1000 uninterested ones.
Blogging Myths #6: You should post articles to your blog every day if you want to be a successful blogger.
Very often you may hear the recommendation to write your blog posts every day. Meanwhile, you can meet many blogs on the Internet which add posts every day but remain unpopular, and very successful and reputable blogs that do that 1-2 times a weak or even rarer. Quality plays a very important role here: if your every post can be called a real masterpiece, the audience will wait for each new one passionately; but if your posts are weak, you may write 20 articles a day, but it will give you nothing.
Well, this is the fact. One more important thing here is how regular you add posts to your blog. Even if you do that once a week, your readers should know about it. So, they will be waiting for your new articles, and they will know when to come back to your blog to find them there.
Blogging Myth #7: You should be a good writer to become a successful blogger.
That’s not true, friends. There is no need to be a famous writer in order to make your posts interesting and exciting. A big advantage of blogging is the fact you speak the same language with your audience here, and all you need here is to find mutual understanding. Moreover, the more you write – the better you’ll do that.
Blogging Myth #8: Blogs are a simple mainstream, and everyone will forget about them very soon.
Some big and popular blogs have been “living” for many years already, and we can’t find any reason why they should “die” soon. People always had a desire to express their own thoughts, and many of them wanted to have much more than just 140 symbols for doing that. So, what can be a better method to tell people about what bothers you and what you know better than others? Long live to blog, guys!
One of the most effective ways to build brand awareness, while providing relevant and useful content to your target audience is through consistent blogging. Thanks seven boats academy for enhancing my knowledge
Thank you Sovan. Yes, consistent blogging is necessary but updating old blog posts regularly is equally important too. If you write weekly one new blog post , you should update weekly 3-7 old blog posts to get competitive advantage. Updating means editing with latest information, images, strategies, removing obsolete things etc.
