As the year heads to an end, Google makes a very valuable addition to its app designed for iOS, something which can be labelled as their flagship product. It adds Google Lens visual search function to the iOS Google app. If you have followed the developments in Google products in this past year, you should have noted its stress on visual search. Google has repeatedly pointed out that voice and visual search are the next level of searches and it is working toward that future.
Previously Google had provided the Google Lens visual search function in an app dedicated for that purpose. Then it stitched this function inside the app of Google Photos. However, Google noted that both these methods asked the user to start an app separate to their primary objective here: to conduct a visual search. So it added the Google Lens visual search function to where people go for conducting a search query: the Google app.
There’s no need any more to take a photo and then run it through the visual search function, like you did before this addition to the iOS app. Now, the Google Lens function will enable your phone camera to act like a live detector or images, bar codes, product photos and even contact details. Once the object of your attention is recognized, it will act accordingly. For example, contact details scanned by Google Lens will be filed away in the Contacts section of your phone.
Kids can use this function to identify different animals and plants for their studies in school. Shoppers can use this app to look for similar products on Google search. The best part about this is that Google Lens visual search guidelines will be provided to you when the update is made available for your iphone. The step by step account of the capabilities embedded through this function will help you figure out what it does and how you can use the app to get it done.
Do note that this update is still rolling out slowly. It may be sooner or later that you receive this update. But when it comes your way, your search for information will receive a new boost.
