SEO is not, and cannot, be a solo show. The success of the SEO team has a lot to do with the client and the business they are conducting the optimization for. There has to be a perfect synchronization between the strategies of the SEO team and the requirements of the client. Just like maintaining this perfect balance is the right choice for any SEO team, it holds true for the clients as well. When you hire a SEO team to handle search engines for you, you have to listen to their advice and make those technical changes in strategy that they suggest, without of course, compromising on your brand value.

At the very onset, lay down the rules of the game. SEO teams that are experienced and competent never claim to get your brand on the top slots of search engine ranks. It must be understood that Google, and not the SEO teams that you have hired, provide rankings! In other words, SEO teams can do a series of strategic plays to capture Google rankings but it cannot deliver it to your doorstep with surety. That is something that cannot be done! So, if clients come to SEO teams with hopes of bagging Google ranks within a specified time period, they are starting out on the wrong foot.

An important part of SEO success is cooperation of the clients. You need to make adjustments in brand positioning, keyword use and other technical details according to the advice of the SEO team. Of course, these changes must be backed with reasonable suggestions and causes. But, clients should not stonewall the SEO team’s recommendations simply because they know their business better. Surely you do know your brand and products better than the SEO team that you have hired, but you do not know the rules of the SEO game. That is why you have hired a SEO team in the first place! Listen to their inputs and provide the technical assistance required.

At the end of it all, the viability of a business will also reflect on the success of the SEO team. If you are not selling anything with a distinct USP and if your products or services are shoddy, no SEO team can pull up your sales graph! The SEO team can only help businesses that have a future online and every business does not tick this all-important box.
